Christopher Mattheisen (1961) - Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

christopher_mattheisen Degrees in economics from Indiana University, Bloomington and Columbia University, New York. First came to Hungary in 1990 to start consulting company for business analysis and strategic planning. From 1993 to 1996 was the founding Marketing and Sales Director of Westel 900 (later T-Mobile Hungary). From there moved on to Poland to participate in launching Era GSM for US West International as Director of Marketing, Sales and Strategy. From 1997 to 1999 headed up in London US West's (later MediaOne) marketing and sales activities for its European mobile subsidiaries. Subsequently served at BT Cellnet as Business Marketing and Sales Director. From September 2002 was member of Magyar Telekom's Management Committee and Chief Officer responsible for Residential Services. From January 2005 to June 2006 served as Chief Operating Officer leading the Wireline Services line of business (T-Com).
Appointed Magyar Telekom's Chief Executive Officer from December 6, 2006 and elected member and Chairman of the Board of Directors on December 21, 2006.

Thilo Kusch (1965) – Chief Financial Officer

thilo_kusch He studied communication engineering and business administration at Technische Universität Berlin. From 1989 to 1992 he successfully established his own company selling PCs and PC network to residential and small business customers. From 1992 to 1998 he worked in a leading position in Arthur D. Little's Telecoms, IT, media and entertainment practice as a management consultant and from 1998 to 2001 he was telecoms equity analyst with Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. He joined Deutsche Telekom Group in 2001 as Senior Director in charge of IPO preparations and investor relations for T-Mobile International. Since April 2002 he was a Senior Executive Vice president of Deutsche Telekom, in charge of investor relations.
He was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Magyar Telekom as of September 20 2006, and from November 6, 2006 has been member of the Board of Directors.

 

Éva Somorjai (1966) – Chief Human Resources Officer

somorjai_eva She completed her studies at the College for Commerce and Catering. From 1989 she worked at the international directorate of Magyar Hitelbank, from 1991 through 1994 she was the administrative and financial manager of a real estate investment company in Melbourne, Australia. After her return she found employment with Pepsi Cola Hungary. From1996 she worked in various management positions in the HR area of the company's Central European division. In 1999 she was appointed HR director of the international organization and personnel development area, from 2000 she filled the position of HR director of the Hungarian company. She has been working for Magyar Telekom since October 2001. Since 2002 she has been director of the Group HR Branch. She was involved in the elaboration of the group HR strategy, in providing HR support to international and domestic acquisition activities and in the management of the company restructuring and development program.
As of April 1, 2007 she was appointed Chief Human Resources Officer of Magyar Telekom.

István Papp (1972) – Chief Operating Officer, Business Services

papp_istvan He holds a degree in economics and an MBA diploma from Warnborough University in Ireland. He started his professional career at Integra Kft. From 1996 he worked at Anixter Distribution Hungary, first as commerce director and then regional head of sales. In 1999 he joined Cisco Systems Hungary Kft. During the past 8 years he served in several executive positions at the company and directed its large enterprise, service provider, government, small and medium enterprise, as well as partner relations lines of business. In August 2005, he was appointed head of the region comprising eight countries (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia and Hungary); and was Cisco Systems Director responsible for the Adriatic region and Hungary.
As of October 16, 2007 he was appointed Magyar Telekom's Chief Operating Officer, Head of Business Services (T-Systems). From January 1, 2008 he became Head of the Business Services Business Unit.

Robert Pataki (1971) – Chief Strategy and Corporate Development Officer

pataki_robert_nagy He graduated as an economist from the University of Corvinus in Budapest then completed studies in international finances and marketing management at the University of Erasmus in Rotterdam. He started his career as an investment analyst with Project Finance International Ltd. in Hague in 1995,  then worked for Nutricia Netherlands BV in Rotterdam in 1996 where he was a financial analyst. He joined Accenture (Andersen Consulting) in 1996 and until 2001 he worked for Accenture’s Strategic Services first as a senior manager, later as a strategic consultant responsible for the telecommunications and e-commerce sectors. From 2001 he continued his professional career with A.T. Kearney as a dedicated account manager providing consultancy services to leading Hungarian telco companies, later in 2003  he became a senior manager of A.T. Kearney’s European Telecommunications Team responsible for major European projects in the field of mobile communications and internet services.
He has been Chief Strategist of Magyar Telekom since September 2006.  He had an outstanding role in creating the company’s new organizational structure and in elaborating MT’s growth strategy for the period up to 2010 which serves the basis for the new operational model of the company.
As of April 1, 2009 he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Alternative Businesses and Corporate Development Business Unit by keeping his tasks as Chief Strategist of Magyar Telekom, as well. With his nomination he has become a Member of the Management Committee of Magyar Telekom.
Due to organizational changes within the company he works as Chief Strategy and Corporate Development Officer from 1 September, 2009.

István Maradi (1964) – Chief Technology and IT Officer

maradi_istván He graduated in 1989 from the Technical University of Budapest with a degree in communications engineering, specialized in GSM and mobile communication, then in 2000 obtained an MBA degree at the Open University of London. He started his carrier in Matáv PKI Research Institute as mobile telecommunications researcher. Then he participated in the start-up of Westel Rádiótelefon Kft. with responsibility for network design. In the initial period of the company's operations he worked as design engineer, then as radio engineer, from 1992 as director for network operations. From 1995 he was director of operations at Westel 900 Rt., then at Westel Mobil Rt., from 2001 to 2006 Chief Officer and Service Development Director of Westel Mobile Rt. (later T-Mobile Magyarország Rt.). He played a key role in construction and development of the network, operations and selection of supliers involved in these operations, and in the introduction of new services. He contributed with his work to T-Mobile Magyarország achieving and keeping a market leader position.
As of April 1, 2007 he was appointed Magyar Telekom's Chief Information Officer. From January 1, 2008 he became Chief Technology and IT Officer of Magyar Telekom.

István Király (1965) – Chief Marketing Officer

Kiraly_Istvan He graduated from the Institute of International Relations in Moscow with a major in international economic relations. He received specialized economics and business English translator and interpeter qualification from the Foreign Trade College Budapest in 1992 and MBA qualification from Oxford BrookesUniversity in 2000. István is fluent in English, Russian and Spanish. He joined Magyar Telekom from Pannon GSM (Telenor) in 2004. He started his career as a business development manager at Magyar Telekom and had been in charge of Strategy and Marketing Director at Business Services Business Unit since 2008.
As a result of the organisational changes effective from July 1, 2010 he has been appointed Chief Marketing Officer of Magyar Telekom.

 

 

Balázs Máthé (1968) – Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer

Mathe_Balazs He was appointed Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer of Magyar Telekom as of July 1, 2010. He joined Magyar Telekom as Group Legal Director in 2007. Prior to joining Magyar Telekom, he worked as an attorney at various international law firms for over a decade, including five years at one of the leading global law firms, Linklaters, where he was a Partner and the head of the Corporate Department in Budapest. As an attorney, he specialized in cross border mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance matters. Balázs Máthé received his law degree from Janus Pannonius University (JPTE), Pécs, Hungary in 1995. His previous studies included EU Law Studies at the Università degli Studi di Trento, Italy and a few semesters at the Faculty of Arts (History and Languages) of JPTE.

 

 

 

Attila Keszég (1966) – Chief Sales and Services Officer

KeszegAttila_178x266 Attila Keszég graduated at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics as a qualified mechanical engineer, then he attended an MBA course specializing in financial and management studies. He embarked on his career in 1992 at Heminway Holding, then he worked for Dove Mid Europe. In 1994 he joined Pepsi-Cola Company first as Key Accounts Director, then Project Manager, later Unit Manager Central Hungary managing field sales, delivery and warehousing. From 1999 he worked as Sales Director of Pepsi Hungary and from 2001, as Sales Director for Traditional Trade Central and Eastern Europe, he was responsible for Hungarian, Polish, Czech and Slovak markets. From 2005 he has been General Manager of Red Bull Hungary, which achieved successful operation under his leadership amidst the global economic downturn. Throughout his career, he gained wide ranging experience in understanding consumer demand and its efficient satisfaction through commercial partners. As an executive trained in a competitive FMCG market environment, he achieved success through organizing and motivating his team while observing the efficient utilization of resources.
From September 1, 2010 he has been Chief Sales and Services Officer of Magyar Telekom.
