High-performance data network for Airbus in Asia

Frankfurt am Main, June 14, 2007

T-Systems Enterprise Services and Airbus continue to expand their international cooperation in Asia. The aircraft manufacturer is setting its sights on the Asia Pacific growth market and will open a new assembly line for the A320 in China in 2008. As the company's strategic ICT partner, T-Systems has been commissioned with setting up a reliable network infrastructure for the increasing data traffic in Asia and will initially operate it for the next three years. T-Systems was able to win the order against Airbus' previous network operator as well as other international competitors.

Airbus currently has communication networks at over 20 locations in China, Japan and Singapore. The bandwidth of these networks is not extensive enough to accommodate the growing, international data traffic in the Asia region. T-Systems plans to combine Airbus' internal data traffic, communication with suppliers and network access for maintenance work at the airports onto one common, high-performance platform. T-Systems will also link the aviation company's main Asia hub in Beijing to Airbus headquarters in Toulouse via a 155 megabit/s connection.

T-Systems will begin work on the new communication platform in the fourth quarter of 2007 after an initial pilot phase. Both companies are currently collaborating on an extensive SAP project in Asia.

In Germany, the Deutsche Telekom subsidiary has been operating the aviation company's corporate network for several years now as well as the company's standardized desktop infrastructure in Germany, France, Great Britain and Spain.
