Accountability Rating Hungary: Magyar Telekom ranked first again

Budapest, October 15, 2007

Magyar Telekom is ranked first again on the list reflecting the accountability of the largest Hungarian companies. This is already the second year that such a ranking is made on the basis of an international methodology by the strategy and communications consulting company Braun and Partners Network CSR. First it was published in 2006, and Magyar Telekom had a pole position at that time, too.

The preliminary list of Accountability Rating Hungary (ARH) appraising the largest domestic companies was published in Figyelő Top 200 on October 13. 2006 was the first year when such a rating was prepared, and Magyar Telekom had a pole position at that time, too. Accountability Rating Hungary (ARH) makes this assessment on the basis of public data available for affected person within the companies; it reflects the extent how important it is for the most significant Hungarian companies to efficiently manage social, economic and environmental challenges, to incorporate these aspects into their business strategy and corporate governance, and involve their affected staff into the decision processes. This year the work of the rating experts was facilitated by the participating companies more actively, and a significantly larger amount of documents was disclosed.

In the course of Accountability Rating, companies are appraised in six areas: strategy (20%), corporate governance (15%), performance management (15%), involvement of the affected persons (20%), public disclosure (15%), certification/authentication (15%). In 2007, Magyar Telekom is ranked first again on the ARH 2007 list with a performance of 52 percentage, what is an outstanding result in comparison to the companies’ average (14 percentage). Only five companies managed to reach the range above 30 percentage, what is much higher than the Hungarian average. For more information please go to www.arhu.hu.
