New beneficiary of the Donation Line: “Somlai Angyalka” Foundation helping the training of dogs for the blind

Budapest, March 03, 2008

In March and April 2008, you can support the “Somlai Angyalka” Foundation by dialing 1788, the Telekom Donation Line.

Currently in Hungary there are 120 persons with impaired sight (blind or near-blind) who rely on four-legged helpers: dogs. And 72 people in need are waiting for such seeing eye companions – for months or even years. The majority of them live in a disadvantaged social situation. With the help of such dogs, they can live a more independent life, they have better chances to be employed and educated/trained, their life quality improves, and they can more successfully integrate into society. The goal of the “Somlai Angyalka” Foundation is to support the training of dogs for the blind in Hungary; they also provide an extra support to the master of the dog living in the most appropriate mental environment. The amount received through the Donation Line will be used by the Foundation for maintaining and expanding its breeding and puppy-raising program, to increase training capacities and provide ongoing training and professional support for the already working seeing eye dogs and their masters.

Telekom Donation Line organizes help for those in need in a simple and transparent way. By calling 1788 you can donate 100 HUF for the announced support goal; in all cases, you help the work of a public benefit organization working on the solution of social problems. The Company provides this service free of charge, transferring the total donated amount without charging any costs, i.e. with no intention to generate revenues; in the donation collection period we also give considerable help to the communication campaign of the organizations, (e.g. by making TCR films, organizing TV and other media appearances).

Over a period of five years, 32 non-governmental organizations have received altogether 220 million HUF through Magyar Telekom’s Donation Line.
