T-Kábel launches HDTV service

From March 2008 T-Kábel Hungary is launching its HDTV service in the area covered by its network, in the Greater Budapest area, Dunakeszi and Esztergom. The monthly fee for the service will be HUF 1,990.

HD (High Definition) television is a technology based on T-Kábel’s digital service available since 2005. It offers even higher definition, excellent picture and sound quality that will at last enable subscribers to watch breathtakingly real pictures on the growing number of high definition television sets. Reception of HD programs will require in addition to an appropriately enabled television set (“Full HD”, “HD ready” or “HD TV”) a Set Top Box (receiver) and an associated decoder card that will be provided by T-Kábel to HDTV subscribers. The monthly fee for the service will be HUF 1,990. At the start in March the T-Kábel HD package will include the following channels: Filmbox HD, History Channel HD, Voom HD.

In the future the focus will be on users’ experience, we will launch additional novelties, such as HDTV accessible via IPTV, to make perfect home movies accessible to the highest possible number of our customers while fulfilling this requirement,” Magyar Telekom’s Chief Operating Officer of the Consumer Services BU János Winkler emphasized at T-Kábel’s press conference held today.
