Budapest, September 13, 2019 14:00

Magyar Telekom was registered as a participant by the National Media and Infocommunications Authority in the auction procedure for spectrum licences related to 5G and mobile broadband services.

On July 18, 2019 the Office of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority announced an auction for the utilisation of the 700 MHz frequency bands and for the available blocks within the 2100 MHz, 2600 MHz and 3600 MHz frequency bands. The start of the onsite bidding procedure is scheduled for September 23, 2019.

“Magyar Telekom has been testing 5G technology and its embedded technological possibilities for years. In 2017 - under laboratory conditions at the time - we have established the first 5G connection in Hungary, and in January this year we have launched our first, standard 5G test station in downtown Zalaegerszeg. 5G technology - supporting far greater data transmission speed than today, low latency and the connection of a vast number of network devices - offers a multitude of new possibilities for industrial and everyday use” – said Tibor Rékasi, CEO of Magyar Telekom.
