Magyar Telekom in the spirit of innovation
Our company considers it a major objective and an important element of our job to actively keep track of innovation trends, technologies and solutions that provide new opportunities as well as to offer such solutions to our customers so that we can embark on a journey to the future together.
With this mission in mind, we are the first in Hungary to offer solutions based on IPv6 technology (the network addressing method of the near future) both to residential and business customers. Features based on IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) technology became available for testing as of the autumn of 2009, offering an even better customer experience attached to functions that customers are already used to.
New and improved services
With the IPv6 technology we can provide never before seen functions, speed and security for upgraded services, such as:
More partners, more technologies
We make the features of IPv6 network addressing available for small and medium enterprises, large businesses and residential customers, in the introductory phase on traditional fixed (ADSL) and optical technology using Windows Vista/7 or Unix/Linux operating systems. In the near future, we intend to extend our newest technology to our cable television and mobile network.
Preparations
The quality provision of this new technology and its introduction was preceded by a long process of preparation. After working out the concept, first laboratory tests, then – during spring 2009 – live operational tests were accomplished, based on which, in the fall of 2009, we started to upgrade our live systems to fully support the new technology.
Pilot phase from 2009
For the flawless introduction of IPv6 technology and for testing our technical readiness under live operational circumstances, we need the help of our customers to provide us with feedback that will later help us to develop the commercial service.
What does IPv6 offer?
Thanks to the new network addressing solution IPv4 addressing limitations experienced earlier can be almost completely eliminated:
Additionally, practical user level applications are extended with new features, such as:
