In 2023, Magyar Telekom received a rating of AAA (on a scale of AAA-CCC) in the MSCI ESG Ratings assessment.

Sustianalytics assesses the company's environmental, social and corporate governance impacts and ranks companies on a scale of 0-50 according to the sustainability risk of the company's operations. FTSE Russell (the trading name of FTSE International Limited and Frank Russell Company) confirms that Magyar Telekom Telecommunications has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria, and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series. Created by the global index provider FTSE Russell, the FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. The FTSE4Good indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products.

2022

CDP

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an international non-profit group, which helps investors, companies, states and regions to manage their environmental footprints. According to the organization, in the next five years, the environmental risks associated with companies’ supplier chains expose them to a financial risk of USD 120 billion in potential costs, as the organization estimates that in general the emission of a supplier chain is 11.4 times as much as the emission of the specific company’s own operations. That is the very reason why the organization urges responsible companies to control the emissions of their suppliers, too, beyond their own climate protection efforts, as well as encourages suppliers to commit themselves to supporting environmental efforts. At CDP Supplier Engagement Rating (SER) Magyar Telekom was ranked to be in the top, being the only telco based in Hungary in that range. ISS Corporate Solutions ranked Magyar Telekom to be among the best performers of the telecom sector in terms of sustainability based on the company’s sustainability achievements in 2020.
ISS ESG Corporate Rating assesses companies potentially recommended to investors across the world against more than 100 indicators on an annual basis. According to their latest assessment, Magyar Telekom is among the best of the sector: with its B Prime rating ISS Corporate Solutions recommends Magyar Telekom as a responsible investment.

Created by the global index provider FTSE Russell, the FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. The FTSE4Good indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products.

Since its introduction in 2016, Magyar Telekom has been part of the FTSE4Good Emerging Index, which measures the sustainability performance of companies of emerging countries, and currently encompasses 23 countries.

As a conclusion of the assessment, Magyar Telekom Group’s sustainability activity received 4.7 out of the maximal 5 points, which puts the company among the top 10% in comparison with its global peers.

ISS-oekom

In the ISS-oekom’s Corporate Responsibility Review 2018 Magyar Telekom Plc. is named as the TOP1 performer of the telecommunications sector. The rating agency has compiled this review of publicly available data from 2017 December, along the close assessment of sustainability related operations of 3,800 companies globally based on data of approximately 100 indicators. Achieving sector leading status with our dedication to sustainability confirms the validity and efficient implementation of our Sustainability Strategy.

Oekom

The ranking of the world’s telecommunication companies was disclosed in the latest report in January 2018 according to which Magyar Telekom trails the parent company Deutsche Telekom by taking the second place in the global ranking by sustainability activities. The third place was achieved by AT&T Inc. in the US. Total of 118 companies were assessed from the telecommunications sector of which only 21 companies (17.8%) were ranked in Prime category, recommended for investment.

2017

FTSE4Good

The FTSE Russell (the trading name of FTSE International Limited and Frank Russell Company) confirms that Telekom Group Plc has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria, and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series. Created by the global index provider FTSE Russell, the FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. The FTSE4Good indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products. The index series conducts annual monitoring of the companies. Follwing the inclusion of Magyar Telekom Group in 2016 we maintained our constituent status again in 2017.

FTSE4Good Emerging Index

FTSE Russell (the trading name of FTSE International Limited and Frank Russell Company) confirms that Magyar Telekom has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria, and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series. Created by the global index provider FTSE Russell, the FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. The FTSE4Good indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products.

FTSE Russell launched the FTSE4Good Emerging Index, as part of the FTSE4Good Index Series in December 2016. The index measures the performance of companies that comply with the globally recognized ESG inclusion rules used for the FTSE4Good Index. The FTSE4Good Emerging Index covers 20 countries.

PREVIOUS RECOGNITIONS

CEERIUS

Magyar Telekom has been included in the Central-Eastern European responsible investment index CEERIUS (Central and Eastern European Responsible Investment Universe) since its launch. The index was launched by the Vienna Stock Exchange (Wiener Börse) in 2009 and it includes the companies from eight countries of the region that perform the best from environmental, social and economic points of view.

The companies have been evaluated on the basis of their responsible stakeholder relations. In the evaluation, they studied, among others, the relation of companies to their own employees, to customers, market partners, to the society as a whole and to the environment.

Oekom

Oekom Research has assigned an overall grade of B to Magyar Telekom Group after its assessment at the end of 2013. This result classifies Magyar Telekom Group as “Prime” according to Oekom’s methodology which means proposed for investment.

Magyar Telekom has earned the distinction of being included in the prestigious third place in the report of Oekom Research, prepared according to the operation of the world's 108 telecommunication companies along sustainability aspects.

Oekom Research is an independent agency, analyzing over 3,400 companies and 57 countries with regard to their environmental and social performance, and its clients include reputable companies offering financial services and managing a total volume of EUR 600 billion.

Dow Jones Sustainability Index

Magyar Telekom was rated for the second time in 2008 with the aim of being admitted into the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI). This index incorporates the top 10% most sustainable companies among the top 2500 largest companies in the world. Whilst the Group was not admitted into the index at this time for technical reasons, despite the fact it scored higher than that the company with the lowest score within the DJSI World Index.

SAM Yearbook

Magyar Telekom was the only Central European company to be included in the 2009 yearbook published by Sustainable Asset Management (SAM), which includes the top 15% of the 2500 rated companies from 57 sectors.
