T-Mobile increases efficiency

Budapest, August 17, 2004

The market leading Hungarian mobile company that has been operating under the T-Mobile brand since May 3, 2004, achieved better than planned results in every area in the first half of the year. The company has been performing well in respect of subscriber numbers, revenue and EBITDA alike, and has managed to capture additional market share since the end of last year.

Despite sharp competition in the tariffs and sets markets and the reduction of termination fees, the company boosted its revenues by almost 5 per cent to 126.9 billion HUF in the first half of the year, and increased its EBITDA by over 9 per cent to 52.8 billion HUF. T-Mobile Magyarország Rt., that closed its rebranding operation with remarkable speed and efficiency, saw its customer base grow by nearly 150 000 in the period January-June, as a result of which its market share reached 47.68 per cent by the end of June. Almost half of T-Mobile's customers choose subscription packages, and the former close to 90 per cent share of prepaid customers has much decreased among new sales.
