Matáv is also contributing to helping the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Southeast Asia so from 00.00 on January 5 to 24.00 on January 31, 2005 HUF 200 can be donated by calling Matáv's 1749 helpline to help the needy. In one week HUF 50 million was donated by Matáv customers alone on the 1749 helpline to help the victims. On January 6 all three mobile carriers joined Matáv's initiative so their customers can also donate HUF 200 by calling the 1749 helpline. Donations will be delivered to the needy by the Hungarian Red Cross as emergency relief with the involvement of the International Red Cross.
