Budapest, November 18, 2005

This year the PKI Scientific Days will be held in the Magyar Telekom Headquarters on November 22-23 with the title “Entertainment and games on the net”.

The PKI Scientific Days are one of the most prominent conferences in Hungary, attracting around 300-350 professionals on behalf of telecommunications and IT companies, universities and regulatory organizations. This year too there will be noted authorities among the speakers, including Dr. Kálmán Kovács, Minister of IT and Communications, Academician Dr. Norbert Kroó, university professor Dr. László Pap, culture historian Eszter Babarczy, economist Csaba Baboss and inventor Dániel Rátai.

This year the PKI Days center around the theme of “Entertainment and games on the net”. It has become a world trend that the utilization of the broadband networks can be increased if the service providers also offer attractive content for the users. The creation of valuable content and making users familiar with it takes a long time, however. It is much faster if the users themselves find the opportunities of using the broadband connection for hours. The various net games are the most suitable for this purpose. In this field the service providers only have to offer the ideas.

Some of the lectures concern broadband access regulation, utilization and the possibilities offered by broadband. Another part focuses on the games and their sociological impact, and a round-table discussion will probe into the possible responsibility of the content providers. Other speakers will discuss the mobile possibilities as many users like to play games on broadband connections also away from home or en route.
