“The Cause” - a joint program by Magyar Telekom and TV2 for causes that are important for us all

Budapest, May 29, 2006

Under the title “The Cause” two series of documentaries, each in four parts, will be launched jointly by Magyar Telekom and TV2. The films will present real stories with real players, people who work to solve various social problems: to help socially disadvantaged people, people in crisis, promote the development of communities struggling with various hardships or to find solutions to the problems brought on society by civilization.

The “causes” of the first series will be aired after 11.00 p.m. each Tuesday in June. The causes and the participants have been selected by an independent jury, via application. On June 6 television viewers will meet the first homeless football team, on the 13th the work of a foundation that fulfills the wishes of terminally ill children, on the 20th the “shelter” for old race horses saved from the slaughterhouse, and on the 27th the drama group of mentally handicapped people.

Viewers will not be just passive onlookers of the stories because they will be offered the opportunity to help the self-sacrificing efforts of the participants without even having to get up from their armchair: they can decide through telephone voting which participants, which causes should receive the donations offered by Magyar Telekom. The participants of the film that gets the most votes will receive a 5 million HUF donation, and the participants of
the other three films 1 million HUF each.

Each vote cast in the Magyar Telekom (T-Com, T-Mobile) network will cost 200 HUF*, all of which money the telecommunications company will transfer to the organization that receives the most votes from the television viewers. So in addition to the total of 16 million HUF donation, these amounts offered by the spectators will also help reach the goals presented in the films.

The exclusive media partner of the charity “reality show” is TV2, a channel which is giving more and more evidence of its social commitment.

The documentaries have been shot by Kandi Európa Kft., Andrea Kandász and her crew.
