Best Egálnet websites awarded

Budapest, November 30, 2007

On November 29 awards were presented in a ceremony at Magyar Telekom’s Headquarters to the winners of the Egálnet program website competition.

As part of its Digital Bridge program, in November 2006 Magyar Telekom launched the community website Internet for Equal Opportunities (Egálnet). The objective of Egálnet is to help build relations between organizations dealing with disadvantaged groups and support the efficient operation of such organizations by using the opportunities offered by the Internet. Under this service Magyar Telekom enables disadvantaged communities and interest groups and entities supporting them to create and operate their own website free of charge. However, organizations that already have their own website can also join the Egálnet community site.

Organizations that joined the Egálnet community site and created a website by September 30 were automatically registered for the website competition. Awards were presented to participating organizations’ websites in various categories at the presentation ceremony held on November 29 in Magyar Telekom’s Headquarters. Evaluation was based on both content and design criteria. The award-winners received computing facilities (notebooks, desktop computers, monitors, printers). Awards were presented by Magyar Telekom’s Chief Human Resources and Legal Officer Éva Somorjai and well-known media personality Péter Novák. To see the list of award-winners, visit www.egalnet.hu.
