Hungária, an independent certification office of the SGS Group
certified through a site audit conducted in October 1999 that the
quality system developed at Matáv's technical area conforms to the ISO
9002 standard. It was the first successful ISO certification of the
company's technical area (previously the Training Directorate (1997)
and the Operator and Information Services Center (1998) obtained
quality certificates.

The quality system now certified regulates the activities carried out
by the Data Communications Center and the Key Customers Center. The
activities of these Centers include installation, operation and fault
repair processes connected with packet switched data network (X.25),
managed leased line data network (MLLN), satellite data network, and
video and audio transmission services.
The quality system ensures better regulated work processes, better and
more precise executive information, efficient management and work. The
company often bids at tenders invited by multinational companies for
construction of data communication networks, and ISO certification of
the bidder can be a great competitive advantage in the bid
qualification phase.
Development of this system has not been completed with this step. The
company is going to gradually extend the quality system to all
organization units of the Operations and Maintenance Directorate and
wishes to obtain ISO certification by June 2000.
