On February 1, 2000 MATÁV launches tariff packages with a structure differing from previous packages. For subscribers who make many domestic long-distance calls, Matáv offers the Domestic package and for those who use the phone mainly during the weekends the company recommends the Weekend package. The existing discounts (like the HUF 150 discount) and the Favorite Numbers benefits also apply to the new packages.

The Domestic package is available exclusively to residential subscribers, for a monthly fee of HUF 750 gross. In this package local and long-distance zone I calls in the low and night periods cost HUF 4 per minute including VAT, and local and long-distance zone I daytime, long-distance II and national long-distance III calls cost HUF 14 per minute including VAT, irrespective of the time of the day. Another new feature is that no call set-up charge is made in this package on domestic fixed network calls.

The Weekend package is available for HUF 300 gross monthly, for HUF 3 gross per minute in the local and long-distance I zones and for HUF 9.90 gross per minute in the long-distance II and national long-distance III zones. Users of the Weekend package can phone at the regular rates during the week. Until March 31, 2000 the Weekend package is available only on ISDN lines sold in the discount campaign, but after that date it can be ordered on any analogue and ISDN2 connection.

The usual rates remain in force for mobile calls. The new discount packages remain valid until withdrawn.
