As from September 22, 2002 all phone numbers in the Czech telecommunications network will change. All subscriber numbers will become uniformly 9-digit numbers, and the national area codes used so far will become part of the subscriber numbers.

Country code 420 for the Czech Republic as well as the phone numbers of Hungary Direct and the Matáv World Card (Világkártya) from the Czech Republic will remain unchanged.
