From March 1, 2003 the minute fees in Matáv's "Felező" tariff package will decrease considerably, bringing a major saving option for residential customers.

From March Matáv will offer the best ever fixed telephone usage rates for its residential customers. The minute fees of the "Felező" tariff package, which has been a great success since its introduction, will go down considerably from March 1, 2003, so the tariff package will give over 2 hours free usage monthly for its subscribers. Half of the HUF 3210 gross monthly fee of the package, that is HUF 1605 gross, can be used to make calls and there is no call set-up charge in the package either. With the "Felező" package, customers can call local and long-distance fixed telephone numbers at the rate of HUF 12 gross instead of HUF 25 gross so far in the off-peak periods, while in the peak periods the minute fee will be lowered by 20% to HUF 20 gross. The international, mobile and Internet rates of the "Felező" package are identical with the similar rates of the Bázis tariff package. The new rates are automatically available for those customers who subscribed to the tariff package before March 1.

The "Felező" tariff package also offers customers the opportunity to take advantage of the usage credit. Matáv has designed this package mainly for customers who have a small (approximately 4000 HUF monthly bill with the Bázis tariff package) or medium volume of traffic (approximately 5000 HUF monthly bill with the Bázis package). Low-usage customers can save between 18% and 25% monthly, and medium-usage customers 19-26% monthly if they switch from the "Bázis" to the "Felező" package. This tariff package grants customers up to 42% saving on 80 minutes of long-distance calls within the Matáv network in peak period. The new tariff package is an especially good choice option for customers living in the country because they can make long-distance calls all day at very good minute rates, without call set-up fee.
