Budapest, September 14, 2004 18:30

On September 14, 2004 the Competition Council of the Economic Competition Office stopped its proceedings instituted on April 22, 2004 against Matáv.

On April 22, 2004 the Economic Competition Office instituted competition surveillance proceedings against Matáv for suspicion of abuse of significant market power. The proceedings examined among others whether Matáv used price squeeze in its residential tariff packages (and Matáv’s retail prices complied with regulations considering the wholesale prices).

In its decision adopted on September 14, 2004 the Competition Council of the Economic Competition Office found that Matáv's examined pricing principles complied with the applicable regulations so it stopped the proceedings against Matáv.
