Besides continuous expansion of its broadband network, Matáv is paying special attention to improving its narrowband dial-up internet service too. This is why it has simplified the fee structure of the Open Internet service and sharply reduced its prices from April 15. Instead of the former 9 HUF gross per minute rate in peak hours (7.00-18.00) and 6 HUF gross per minute evening rates (18.00-24.00), it is now making available the Open Internet service for Matáv customers at 5 HUF gross flat rate. The 3 HUF gross per minute night rate (0.00-7.00) remains unchanged.

Launched in 2003, the Open Internet service offers minute-rated internet access without monthly, entrance or connection fees. The Matáv Open Internet service is available to all Matáv customers - with the exception of the subscribers of the low user (Minimál) package - by dialing 06 51 622 622. The service is very popular with Matáv's customers, in March 2005 service was used by close to 110,000 customers.
