This Year's Earth Hour with Magyar Telekom Again
In the spirit of its hello tomorrow! movement Magyar Telekom will join with its
own programs the World's major voluntary campaign for the protection of the
environment, the Earth Hour. On the occasion of the event to be organised at the
Millenaris organisers encourage everybody to come by bicycle. Cyclists will be
welcome with an apple and on-site mobile cycle stands will also be available, to
thereby encourage even more people to cycle to the event.
Magyar Telekom
finds it important that its customers and employees be aware of the significance
of sustainable development and individual responsibility, which may have a
serious impact on not only our own life but that of our children as well.
Hungary's market leader info communication company is there to also contribute
through its own means to solving environmental problems.
For just the same
reason organisers will collect used telephones and batteries at the event and
will show how such waste can be creatively used. Hot wine, fair trade teas and a
flash mob with dance will be awaiting those who visit the event, which will
start at 19.00 hrs. The winner of the competition at the 3rd Sustainability Day,
the Tai Chi orchestra and the Heaven Street 7 ensemble will give a concert until
half past 8 p.m, when all lights will be turned off. During the Earth Hour
lighting will be provided by paper lanterns, hello tomorrow! fires, led lit
balloons and cycle generators.
Also in the evening prizes will be handed
over for hello tomorrow! pledges. Everybody has been welcome to upload their
video or text pledges on the topic of sustainability towww.helloholnap.hu
Some
environment friendly products will be available at half price at T-Points on
this day, to enable our customers to live in a more environment conscious
manner. The Earth Hour is a global initiative, which wants to draw attention to
problems caused by the pollution of the environment and over consumption. Each
year companies, institutions and private persons who join the event the world
over turn off the lights and unplug their electronic equipment for an hour at
20.30 on the last Saturday of March.
Magyar Telekom was the first
among Hungary's large companies to join in 2008 the international initiative of
WWF, during which such landmark objects like the Eiffel Tower, the Golden Gate
Bridge, the Coliseum and the Chain Bridge went dark for an hour. The campaign
intends to draw people's attention to the dangers and harmful impacts of
climatic change.
Climate protection constitutes one of the key elements
of Magyar Telekom's sustainability strategy; therefore the topic is on the
company's agenda for more than an hour. In the wake of investments related to
climate protection the company's base stations increasingly feature free cooling
procedures, hydrogen operated energy cells (PEM), heat pumps and hybrid cars
have been added to its car park. In addition to all this the company covered
over 10% of its overall energy consumption from renewing energy sources in 2010.
