Already 250 thousand interactive TV subscribers at T-Home

Budapest, April 3, 2012 13:30

Following the dynamic increase in the past period, the number of T-Home customers subscribing for the interactive TV service exceeded 250 thousand.

„2012 will be the year of interactive TV in Hungary. Interactivity becomes ever more important for our customers: consequent to new TV applications already more than 250 thousand people use T-Home’s IPTV and Interactive Sat TV services, while this year we expect this figure to grow further” – said Chris Mattheisen, chairman and CEO of Magyar Telekom Nyrt.
New developments bring about an ever increasing scope of interactive features available with the services.
Beside the well known features – stoppable and rewindable live programs, electronic program guide, programmable recording, parental lock, pictures and music applications, etc. – from now onwards Facebook and the Netwaiter application also is available with the Interactive Sat TV service, as well as a new version of community site applications with the IPTV service. Videotheque (VoD) offers home movie entertainment within the interactive TV service, featuring more than 500 movies even before the TV premiere available to T-Home Interactive TV subscribers.
The IPTV service – radically transforming traditional television – was first launched in Hungary by T-Home (i.e. by its predecessor brand, T-Online Hungary) in November, 2006 and for a while this was the only brand to offer commercially available IPTV service.
T-Home was also the first company to launch the Interactive Sat TV in Hungary in December, 2011 – a satellite service using a special hybrid technology and offering interactive content through Internet on satellite television.
On the occasion of reaching the 250 thousand interactive TV subscriber number as of today, T-Home launches a special game – emphasizing the advantages of Videotheque (VoD) available with IPTV and Interactive Sat TV - for film fans having subscriptions for interactive television, offering valuable prizes.
