hello holnap! Children’s Grove in the Island

Budapest, June 1, 2012 10:00

It will be the 11th time this summer that the large meadow of the Hajógyári sziget will be echoing children’s laughter at June weekends. This time again Telekom will be an active participant in the free-of-charge series of programs organised at the Children’s Island: now the company is expecting youngsters with environmentally conscious games, competitions and various exciting experiences offered in the topic in the framework of its hello holnap! grove program.

Children will occupy the Hajógyári-sziget at Óbuda again from June 2,  2012, where visitors will be welcome during four weekends to Hungary’s largest free-of-charge series of family events, called the Children’s Island. This year Telekom will turn green instead of the usual magenta colours and, in the spirit of sustainable development and its commitment to the protection of Earth it will offer exciting, playful programs and experience called the hello holnap! grove to children on an area of 400 square meters. The aim of the company with the hello holnap! grove programs is to draw the attention of the generation growing up to our environmental values, the need of their protection and to the fact that we can all contribute to a liveable environment independently from our age.

A real fairy-tale tree each will mark the places where the various programs of the hello holnap! grove will be conducted. The PET bottle tree, the Textile tree, the Glass bottle tree and the Paper cave will await children to prepare toys, objects for use and decorations in the spirit of recycling. The handicraft programs hold surprises from one weekend to the other: the art of re-design will be shown at the Rubber workshop to be held on June 9 and 10, and program coordinators will help children prepare special jewellery, animal figures and mosaics. And, children’s drawings and paintings will be shown at an exhibition called Üzenj a holnapnak! (Leave a word for tomorrow), which will be continuously expanded and open to visitors at the Children’s Island.

The location of the Eco-Puppet Play will await children at every weekend with an interactive puppet show called the LIM-LOM (Odds and Ends) tale, introducing to children in a fairy-tale setting the importance and significance of selective waste collection. This year’s Children’s Island cannot be left without the popular Show What You Know competition either, to which venturesome children may apply in the afternoons at the Eco Stage to show their skills in singing or dancing.

Children taking part in all programs of the hello holnap! grove may return home with their own potted plant. More venturesome children may create their own creative flower pots, into which they can pot colourful flowers. Telekom will donate the children-made flower pots to homes of the elderly.

The worldwide web cannot be absent from the Children’s Island either, as the Telekom Internet Lorry will be parked there awaiting with 14 work stations those who wish to surf the internet. There will be live IPTV shows in the lorry.

Children who are not in a position to visit the programs will also be remembered in the hello holnap! grove. This time visitors would like to help sick children. This year the campaign to collect second-hand toys called „Benevolent Toys” will be announced again. Children may bring the toys they no longer need and which are still in a good condition. The toys collected will be donated to the Society of Hospital Teachers, which cares for sick children in eight major Hungarian cities. The donations will go directly to children.

Those interested may find out more about the details of the programs if they visit www.gyereksziget.hu or the Facebook site of hello holnap! ( www.facebook.com/hello.holnap).
