  • The service provider is further reducing its roaming fees valid in EU countries
  • Protection from data over-usage also in non-EU countries
  • Extraordinary roaming discounts for the Olympics

From July 1, 2012 T-Mobile is further reducing its roaming tariffs valid in countries of the European Union. T-Mobile customers can initiate and receive calls with minute charges of gross HUF 106.8 and HUF 29.4 respectively within EU member countries, while the charge for a text message sent will be HUF 33.0 and that of an MMS HUF 257. Furthermore the billing unit for using the internet in the EU will be 1 kB (kilobyte) from July and its price will be HUF 0.2519. The new roaming fees have been designed in compliance with the applicable decree of the European Parliament and the European Council, and they facilitate cost-saving mobile telephony and mobile internet use in 30 countries, i.e. in 27 EU member states as well as in Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

Parallel with these reductions, the data roaming limit so far valid only in EU countries will be extended to countries outside the EU, in order to protect customers. As of July 1, 2012 the World GPRS Limit roaming data tariff package will be introduced to ensure for T-Mobile customers that their roaming data usage spending does not exceed HUF 18.425 (EUR 50), whatever country they are in, i.e. even outside the European Union. When the limit is reached, data traffic is interrupted and the carrier informs the customer by sending a text message. It will, of course, be possible to continue sending data if the customers so wish, but in this case they must select and activate one of T-Mobile’s roaming tariff packages. T-Mobile customers using the World GPRS Limit tariff package (with the exception of those whose individual needs are met through one of the existing roaming tariffs or packages) will be able to use the internet safely and free from high bills also in favorite travel destination countries such as Croatia, Switzerland or Turkey.

As an additional benefit, T-Mobile customers can use extraordinary discounts on the occasion of the London Olympics in summer. An Olympic discount can be activated from July 1, 2012 to accompany
T-Mobile’s Travel&Talk roaming tariff package introduced in May 2012. The Travel&Talk tariff package offers favorable minute charges abroad, which means a minute charge of HUF 85 for calls initiated within the EU. What is more, using the Olympics 2012 roaming discount a further reduction of 30 per cent from the minute charge will be provided for an initial activation fee of HUF 490 to Travel&Talk users on inbound calls initiated from the United Kingdom and those initiated to Hungary. This means the discount minute charge will be only HUF 59.5. Billing will be minute-based. The Olympics discount too can be activated simply, by sending a text message. Details of the discount offer and its activation are available for customers at www.t-mobile.hu website and the 1430 customer care number .
