Telekom Attracting New Trainees with Games on the Social Networking Site and Career Advice Tailored to the Company

Budapest, March 28, 2012 12:30

Magyar Telekom’s Internship Program is to be launched again in September 2012, for which the company is inviting applications until April 20, 2012. The company intends to address those interested through the social media as well: it provides information about the company and the program with the help of a game; moreover it also gives useful career advice to help young people start out in the world of work.

Magyar Telekom will launch its internship program again in the autumn of 2012. The program serves a dual purpose: it will provide an excellent opportunity for college and university students to obtain real work experience and, for the most suitable ones, to launch their career at Telekom. It will also bring fresh skills and new impulses into the life of the company. The program enjoys great popularity and in the internship semester launched in February a total of 151 students are working in various areas of the company; 75 of them have been newly hired and 76 are continuing the program. Apart from the great interest, the positive opinion of the current interns speaks for the success of the program: 98% of those involved in the satisfaction survey would recommend Telekom’s trainee program to acquaintances. The interns who participated in the survey highlight, among others, as a positive feature the fact that the program is rich in content and is easy to adapt to college/university studies, and also that interns are treated as equal to employees at the company.

Applications for the internship semester to be launched in September 2012 are accepted from March 1 to April 20 at the karrier.telekom.hu site. Applications are invited from students who actively pursue studies in training for a college level (BSc or BA) or university level (MSc or MA) degree. At least intermediate level English language skill is an additional criterion. The company will conclude a part-time, fixed term employment contract with 2-month probation. Students who take part in the program will be required to work 20 hours a week in a flexible arrangement. Interns will be paid HUF 75,000 a month before tax to be supplemented with a wide range of fringe benefits after the probation period expires. Telekom’s program will open with an orientation period to help students attune to the company’s culture. Following that trainees will be involved in specific, project-type assignments in their professional area. In the course of the five-month program the company provides regular feedback to the interns, and their personal and individual development will also be placed in a special focus through the mentoring system and personal consultations.

Apart from the information displayed on its own corporate web site, Telekom also invites those interested to join in interactive communication via Facebook. On the site called “I will be a Telekom Intern” a game has been launched for virtual internship positions with the aim of introducing the company and the details of Telekom’s internship program. Everybody is welcome to ask questions and can receive useful advice also from the most authentic source: the current interns. In addition to this the company’s staff members will also visit several universities and colleges to advertise the program in person at job exchanges or over pizzas.
