Magyar Telekom’s trainee program will start once again from February 2013; applications should be submitted on the company’s website by October 31, 2012. A proof of the success of the program is that the number of trainees admitted has increased tenfold since 2009. 746 young people applied for the trainee term that started this September, and 86 of them have been admitted. So, along with the students who continue their program, a record number of 182 trainees are working in various areas of the company.

Magyar Telekom’s trainee program, which has been in operation for 16 years, serves two purposes. On the one hand it offers college and university students the opportunity to become acquainted with the operation of a large company and obtain real work experience, and also an opportunity for the most competent ones to launch their career at Telekom in the spirit of equal opportunities. On the other hand it is no secret that the program is intended to attract fresh talent to the company and enrich the life and operation of the organisation with new impulses.

Applications for the trainee term to start in February 2013 can be made by October 31 at karrier.telekom.hu. Applications are invited from students with an active university/college status in higher education, who are participating in college-level (BSc or BA) degree or university-level (MSc and MA) degree courses. An additional criterion is at least intermediate-level proficiency in English. The company enters a fixed term, part-time employment contract with the trainees with a two months’ probation period. The program takes 20 hours of the students’ time a week in a flexible arrangement. Trainees receive gross HUF 75,000 a month, which is accompanied by a generous package of fringe benefits after the probation period. Telekom’s program opens with an orientation period to help participants adapt to the company’s culture. Following that trainees take part in specific, project-like assignments in their professional area. In the course of the 5-month program the company provides continuous feedback to the students and, through its mentoring system and personal consultations, special attention is also paid to their personal and individual development.

In addition to the information available on the company’s website, Telekom has also initiated interactive communication on Facebook with those interested. On the site "Gyakornok leszek a Telekomnál" (I will be a Telekom trainee) anybody is welcome to ask their questions and get useful advice from the most valid source, i.e. the current trainees. In addition, the company’s staff will visit several universities and colleges to advertise the program at university events or at the series of professional programs called the Telekom Academy organised by Telekom.
