Telekom’s comprehensive ebook service powered by txtr is supplemented with a unique companion ebook reader

Budapest, December 18, 2013 15:30

In addition to the ebook service launched in mid-October of this year, Telekom are now introducing a reading device enabling users to comfortably „consume” thousands of digital books. From now on Telekom’s service portfolio will include the txtr beagle ebook reader, which shall be available to anyone, not just Telekom customers.

The txtr beagle ebook reader can be purchased from today on the Telekom website ( www.t-mobile.hu/lakossagi/akciok/akcio/1312_konyvolvaso). Consumers ordering online can get it for HUF 8,900 in combination with one of three smartphones (Samsung Galaxy Young, Sony Xperia M, LG L7 II) and a new Telekom mobile subscription, undertaking a two-year loyalty commitment for the voice or the mobile internet tariff. The txtr beagle includes two free ebooks as well as a preview of Jo Nesbo’s new thriller Police. Telekom is the exclusive distributor of the txtr beagle in Hungary

Alternatively consumers can buy the txtr beagle online with a HUF 0 down-payment and 24 interest-free monthly instalments or at list price for HUF 17,928 including a 10% web shop discount. The device will also be available in the main Telekom shops* from December 18th, and in all Telekom shops from mid-January. There, the txtr beagle can be purchased for HUF 19,920, while gold and platinum customers can buy it for HUF 0 down-payment and 12 monthly instalments of HUF 1,660.

The txtr beagle features an eye-friendly e-ink display, low energy consumption and is simple to use, thus being an excellent alternative to paper books. Ebooks can easily be transferred from the user’s smartphone or tablet (compatibility: Android 2.1 and up, as well as iOS 6 and 7) to the txtr beagle via Bluetooth using the txtr app. The txtr beagle can store five ebooks at once, but it is possible to replace existing ebooks with new ones any time, without generating data traffic.

Getting started is simple: users can create a free user account on the Telekom txtr ebook service ( http://hu.txtr.com/), download the relevant app for their smartphone or tablet from which they can access their personal digital bookshelf and transfer ebooks to their txtr beagle. The size of a small pocket book, the txtr beagle has a stylish award-winning design. It operates with 2 AAA batteries and hence doesn’t need any charger or cable. With its simple user interface the txtr beagle offers a great start into digital reading even for less tech-savvy consumers.

The Telekom ebook store was launched in partnership with txtr ( http://hu.txtr.com/) and offers one of the richest assortments among the ebook stores operating in Hungary: customers can choose from almost 900,000 foreign-language and over 3,000 Hungarian ebooks. Ebooks purchased in the store and uploaded to the txtr cloud are also available in the txtr applications, enabling users to read anywhere any time on mobile devices. More information about the applications can be found at: http://hu.txtr.com/devices/. Downloading and using the applications requires Wi-Fi or a mobile data subscription and generates data traffic, however reading the downloaded ebooks doesn’t require any further data usage.

The txtr ebook top list in Hungary is led by the books of Tamás Frei titled The Year of Chaos and War of the Political Elite.
