The popularity of the live internet broadcast – introduced for the first time this year in the cooperation of Telekom and Ustream - from the two largest countryside summer festivals VOLT and Mastercard Balaton Sound went beyond any expectations. Concerts could be followed on sites www.telekom.hu/fesztivalok, www.sziget.hu, www.origo.hu, www.ustream.tv and on the Facebook site of T-Mobile.
Based on visitor data clearly the online broadcast reached massive volumes: Hungarian internet users connected to the streaming of VOLT 830 thousand times in 5 days and the streaming of Balaton Sound 460 thousand times in 4 days. Each day an average of 100-150 thousand viewers followed the events, which by far exceeds the online visiting hit rate of Hungarian or other regional events of similar size. The average time spent on viewing the sites was 9-12 minutes. The concerts of Hurts (UK) and Jamie Woon (UK) were most popular, followed by 49 and 47 thousand people respectively. High viewage most like was also contributable to Telekom‘s 4G service, enabling users of smartphones and tablets to enjoy online broadcasts free of any compromises.
After the festivals live broadcasts can be viewed again using Telekom‘s Interactive TV services – including among others the pausable, rewindable live broadcast, electronic programme guide, programmable recording, Videotheque, etc.„
We are happy to have made festival experiences available to huge masses of people and contribute to promoting a new type of content consumption, going beyond the classic sponsorship framework. We are especially pleased that we could do all these in cooperation with Ustream, an extremely popular Hungarian start-up company“ said Iván Rózsa, corporate communication director of Magyar Telekom.
„With the solution of Ustream offering a new dimension to screens we intend to offer great experiences and establish interactive communities, generating the „I want to be there“ feeling. With the extraordinary help of Sziget Kft. and Telekom this year we could make this available to a significant part of the festival goer age group“ – said Gábor Schwarz, international business development and sales director of Ustream.
