Telekom’s trainee programme becomes ever more popular

In September, 2013 the trainee programme of Magyar Telekom will be launched again, applications are expected on the company’s homepage by April 10, 2013. In the previous semester a record number of students – more than 1,000 – entered applications.

In the autumn of 2013 Magyar Telekom again launches its trainee programme, serving dual purposes: offering college and university students excellent possibilities to earn real experiences in a workplace environment - the best of them can even start a career with Telekom - while the company’s operation benefits from fresh knowledge and new impulses. The programme is tremendously popular, in the trainee semester started in February in different areas of the company altogether there are 212 students of 15 higher education institutions working, among them 131 receiving BSc and 81receiving MSc level education. Success – further to the huge interest – is also underlined by the positive perception of students: 98% of those participating in the satisfaction survey would recommend the Telekom trainee programme to friends. Many students taking part in the survey highlighted the positive factor, that the programme is rich and can be well aligned with college/university studies, and employees of the company treat trainees as full fledged associates.

One can apply for the Magyar Telekom trainee semester starting in September, 2013 between March 1 – April 10, on the company’s karrier.telekom.hu site. Applicants with active legal student status, learning in higher education institutions are welcome to apply for the programme, participating in college level (BSc or BA) or university level (MSc and MA) education. At least medium level English language skills is a further requirement. The company signs a part time, definite period labour contract, for two months probation work. The programme involves weekly 20 hours of activity for the students, in flexible working hours. Students receive a monthly wage of gross 75 thousand HUF, which upon the expiry of the probation period is increased with the fringe benefit package. Telekom’s programme is started with an orientation period, helping students to integrate into the corporate culture. Following this trainees participate in specific, project-like tasks within their professional fields. During the 5 months programme the company provides continuous feedback to students, while through the mentoring system and personal consultations special attention is paid to the trainees’ personal, individual development.

Beside information available on its own corporate site, Telekom also initiates interactive communication through Facebook with those interested. On page „You will be a trainee with Telekom” anyone can put questions and receive useful advices from the most authentic resource, from current trainees. The company’s associates also visit numerous universities and colleges, at job trading opportunities students interested can test themselves in situational exercises in KarrierImpro games organised jointly with Momentán ensemble, or raising the popularity of the programme in person, when eating pizza in good company.
