Magyar Telekom continues to agrue for the residential energy services rendered with favourable terms

Budapest, March 29, 2013 11:00

Magyar Telekom understands the energy market related objectives of Hungary: the company welcomes efforts intended to serve the interests of customers lowering household spendings and is pleased that in the past three years the company could contribute to decreasing the expenditures of households by offering fees lower than the regulated universal prices.

Telekom continues to strive for offering energy services to its customers with the most favourable terms possible. In order to do so the company developed its proposals which enable maintaining the beneficial terms offered to residents, without causing any extra burden for the national budget.

The company trusts that it continues to have the chance and opportunity to contribute to lowering the burden on residents by offering energy services at favourable terms.Magyar Telekom currently carries out reconciliation about under what conditions the company could continue to offer residential energy services, following the introduction of overhead cuts. The company requires no individual market conditions, however considers it important that market players serving the same customer segment can compete under equal terms. Reconciliation has no effect on the company’s business activities in the market.

As commonly known, since 2010 the company offers electric and gas services to its customers with significant price discount. Further to enabling customers to freely choose their energy provider, the objective of Telekom offering energy services is to use experiences gathered in the telecommunication market and – as an integrated service provider – to offer even more comprehensive services going beyond the telecommunication world, in the whole area of Hungary.
The involvement of Magyar Telekom in the past 3 years significantly contributed to the development of the Hungarian residential energy market as well as to creating competition in the energy market, by having become the most significant alternative residential and business market player beside the traditional universal energy providers.
