Smartphone with Mozilla Firefox OS by Telekom

Telekom announced that from early November the company will also start selling the smartphone featuring the Mozilla Firefox operation system. The new Alcatel One Touch Fire will be first available in Hungary in the assortment of Telekom.

The Firefox OS based smartphones are the first terminals which completely operate with web technologies. Firefox now offers the safety, data privacy, customized solutions and easy operation that hundreds of millions of internet browser users are accustomed to also for Firefox OS smartphones. The user surface of Alcatel One Touch Fire – available in the well-known orange color  of the Fox browser – is aesthetic, purified, easy to handle and speaks for itself. The terminal offers comfortable browsing and search, obviously also featuring a camera enabling users to photograph or even video record every important moment. Photos, videos or even music and documents can be stored in the 160MB memory, which can be increased to 32 GB by inserting a Micro SD card.

The Firefox OS smartphones included in the assortment of Telekom feature dynamic functions, adapting to the momentary needs of users. If the user searches his favorite music performer, the display is modified in a spectacular way – showing for example the list of applications where one can buy or listen to the hits of the given performer, even enabling the purchase of tickets for a concert. Applications may also be run for one-time trials or can be downloaded on the phone. The user decides what content he wants to access, when and how. In addition, Firefox OS offers all the usual smartphone functions – telephoning, messaging, email, integrated camera – plus favorite functions of users: integrated Facebook- and Twitter support, location based services like Nokia HERE Maps, displaying local traffic and mass transportation options, a the popular Firefox browser, the Firefox Marketplace app store and many other options. Although the Firefox OS is web based, it also provides all the basic phone features – like name list and calendar function – even without online connection.

Firefox – also spearheading data privacy and safety – made the „Do not Track” function available in the smartphone, the user of the Alcatel One Touch Fire can exercise stricter control over personal information stored when browsing. Using the „Do not Track” function users can signal to advertisers that they are not supposed to use the tracking feature, serving the purpose of targeted advertising. Mozilla was first to introduce this data privacy function to the market, and Firefox was also the first desktop and mobile browser to offer it.

Alcatel One Touch Fire will be available from November 1 for HUF 19,990 in the prepaid Domino Surf tariff package at Telekom webshop, with 150 MB data bundled monthly. Proper use requires mobile internet service, downloading and using applications generates data traffic.
