Winners of this year's DELFIN Awards

The DELFIN Award ceremony washeld today atMagyar Telekom’s 16

Éva Somorjai, Telekom's Chief HR Officer said in her welcome address: “Our already 16th Sustainability Round Tableproves well that sustainable development, corporate sustainability and responsible operation are of key importance for Telekom. The DELFIN Awards also enhance our continuous dialogue with our stakeholders, as a result of which we can have direct feedback from our partners. Our greatest success in sustainability until now, the Top 3 position in Oekom’s global ranking, has meant an international recognition of our results and a stimulation for us to achieve further goals, to be set in Telekom’s sustainability strategy for the next five years.”

The DELFIN (“a committed, sustainable and innovative generation”) Award competition established by Telekom in 2008 was open for all Hungarian companies in four categories, by submitting projects or programs implemented in 2015. The fact that several former DELFIN winners can be found among the applicants and winners indicates clearly that Hungarian companies are committed to sustainable development.

Winners of the 2015 DELFIN Award:

  • In the sustainable innovation category the award went to RT 5 Taxi Holding operating the 2012 award winner Budapest Taxi, for implementing the country's first environment friendly “green” taxi fleet and deploying the first electric taxi cabs.
  • For climate protection development the jury granted the award to Ericsson Hungary's product re-take program, offering a solution to recycle the devices outphased during the modernization of mobile networks.
  • The category of equal opportunities has seen the success of JOB Personal Consulting, an award winner in 2013 too, this time for having set up thewww.rehabjob.hu
  • In the awareness enhancement category the jury granted the award to MOM Sports Center in recognition of their social reasponsibility activities and having organized competition events for multiply challenged athletes.

Members of the jury have been Péter Bodó, the founder of Route4U wheel-chair navigation, Dr. György Pataki, professor of the Corvinus University Budapest, Ernő Simon, business journalist, András D. Tóth, RTL Klub’s editor and TV presenter representing the Sustainability Media Club, Viktor Nagy, senior analyst of Portfolio.hu and Katalin Szomolányi, head of Magyar Telekom's Corporate Sustainability Center.

Winners of the competition were granted the artwork of glass designer Péter Botos, and a Lenovo Miix hybrid computer as well as invitations to Telekom's Sustainability Day later this year, where they can demonstrate their achievements in the area of sustainability.

Telekom has been organizing sustainability round table meetings for its stakeholders since 1997, involving governmental, scientific and NGO experts as well as representatives of businesses. The aim of the discussion is to enhance dialogue, sharing ideas and cooperation aimed at a sustainable future, and also to identify requirements Telekom is expected to comply with.
