Budapest, October 16, 2023 17:00

On 2 December 2023, the esport CUP powered by Telekom will take place for the third time in the Telekom building in Budapest, offering a full day of exciting activities for competitors and visitors alike. Organized in partnership with Esport1, the League of Legends and Wild Rift tournaments will offer the chance to compete for valuable prizes, with the qualifying rounds being streamed live and the final being shown on-site. Entries will open on 16 October and teams of five are invited to register on the Esportmanager competition platform.

The event aims to attract the most professional athletes and those who feel driven to break out of obscurity and make a name for themselves or test their skills in a real-life competitive situation.

The legendary experience will be provided by Telekom's network: alongside the LoL, participants will be able to play Wild Rift on Telecom's 5G network built for competition with an average latency of 8 ms and an estimated maximum download speed of 1.1 Gbps. As a fan, registered visitors can also show what they can do in FIFA on Sony PS5 consoles and enter virtual reality in the VR arena.

The finalists will be able to experience what it's like to play on the most powerful gaming PCs in the Telekom building, the venue of the event, on a dedicated wired network. Teams can also prepare to play LoL on a private network with a maximum download and upload speed of 8 Gbps and an average latency of around 4-5 ms.

"The number of esports players is growing dynamically and reaching a wider and wider audience. "After the last two year's success, there was no question of organizing the event again - this is going to be the third year of this tournament. The esport CUP powered by Telekom attracts more players and becomes increasingly important year to year, besides, we get positive feedback from the esport community. This time we also want to create a special environment for the gamers to test their skills in the best possible condition, by providing equal conditions to all players. On this unique event, all connectivity for mobile and fiber network is built by the latest technologies, with extremely low latency and very high bandwidth. Together with our partners, we provide high-performance computing and networking hardware for the best possible experience. We want to demonstrate how important a strong, stable technical and network background is in eSports." - said Lubor Zatko, Magyar Telekom's Chief Technology and IT Officer.

This year's esport CUP will also see Telekom collaborate with several esport influencers, including BLYYPLAYS, Paplovag, Brozilla, Pierce, Loemifar, and Livius, who will be adding to the atmosphere of the event. The Open Qualifiers will take place from 17-19 November, with BLYYPLAYS broadcasting the matches on all three days. Riot Games will be looking to engage spectators in 3 of its most successful games: on the final day, alongside LoL, they will be competing with Paplovag and Brozilla in Wild Rift and Teamfight Tactics, which will be played on their phones over Telekom's 5G network.

All the matches will be available online on the Esportmanager platform, with on-site commentary from BLYYYPLAYS, Pierce, Loemifar, and Livius to ensure that viewers don't miss a single moment.
