Cloud! But which one?
It is an available alternative „to go to cloud” also in Hungary when the company’s hardware infrastructure becomes obsolete. The pandemic significantly improved affinity to this issue, but companies are increasingly recognise the specific benefits of migration, in particular high resilience, scalability and predictability.
Many companies are considering the option to move to cloud when their hardware infrastructure becomes obsolete. On the one hand, in many cases there is no option for a traditional solution with procurement of high volume of assets or it is very cumbersome, on the other hand, cloud technology eliminates the ongoing procurement pressure by moving to a more resilient model based on usage.

Pandemic gave an amazing impetus to the domestic corporate IT market where the cloud segment achieved the most dynamic growth. By taking a closer look, we can see that the top performer was the market of public cloud services, this field grew in 2021 by more than 50 percent versus the previous year.
While the COVID-19 shock led in a short time to a situation where cloud technology proved to be the ideal choice for quick transition to a very resilient operation, protracted impacts too reinforce this trend. It is so because increasingly frequently resource problems occur, such as uncertainties in the supply chain, therefore investment in IT devices encounters difficulties even in cases when a company definitely insists on their availability.
In such circumstances it is not surprising that many companies are considering the option to move to cloud when their hardware infrastructure becomes obsolete.
The global trend and the world-wide cloud boom naturally encourages also vendors to migrate from conventional on-premise solutions to operation based on cloud infrastructure as a service.
While numerous surveys confirm the tangible benefits of using cloud-based solutions, reflected also in the company’s profit, a growing number of business models build on the resilience and scalability offered by the cloud. These include the e-commerce and delivery companies appearing and growing after the outbreak of the pandemic, that could not organise their operations otherwise than with cloud technology in the circumstances prevailing at that time – and partly also today. Numerous enterprises providing services covering a seasonally varying demand experienced the benefits of cloud technology reflected by the scalability of their business operations by following up on the alternating periods of overload and low utilisation rate (e.g. tyre service companies).
Naturally, all the positive features of a cloud model can really be harvested only if the migration process is supported by a consulting partner with sufficient expertise and experience, possessing relevant data centre background, wide scope of reseller and public cloud service provider connections, if possible from the point of surveying the requirements and capabilities.
Such partner is Magyar Telekom, that can respond - in addition to public and private cloud services - also to specific requirements that can be fulfilled with a hybrid solution encompassing the benefits of both options. It is no use that cloud services are booming, when many customers – for example due to the requirement to comply with legislation – cannot solely use this solution. They are required to store user data themselves, while they do not want to lose the benefits of public cloud. Hybrid cloud offers a customised solution for them.
