The Campus Network solution from Magyar Telekom makes card payments at festivals smooth and independent of any public network congestion. The private mobile network at each location is also more closed and secure than any public networks.

The Campus Network private mobile network and the industry solutions based on it are special services of Magyar Telekom that satisfy individual customer needs. With the private mobile network infrastructure, fast and flexible 4G and/or 5G connectivity can be ensured according to specific parameters defined in the service contract, such as coverage, capacity, data speed, latency, availability, reliability.

Festipay, which among other things handles card payments for summer music festivals, tested the dedicated mobile network for the first time in 2021 in cooperation with Telekom. The so-called Campus Network was mainly intended to speed up card payments at festivals. Following last year's successful pilot, card payments requiring an online connection can now be made faster and more reliable at three key events this year: EFOTT, Sziget and Strand festivals. Participants will experience that they don't have to wait long for the terminal to connect to the server.

More closed and protected than public networks, the Campus Network is a private, dedicated mobile network. While it provides a secure connection between terminals and payment clearing houses, it also provides a dedicated data connection for online payments when the public network is under load. Devices registered on other networks will not place any additional traffic on the Campus Network as they cannot use it: it is only available to devices/SIMs defined by the customer for IP data communication.

The technical solution itself consists of several phases. Telekom's specialists disconnect the 10 percent or so of capacity dedicated to the Campus Network from the public network in the area. They then create a secure private network that includes the SIM cards dedicated to Festipay. Meanwhile, devices with special SIM cards are activated to connect to this network.

Telekom's experts build the private mobile network infrastructure at the customer's premises and according to the customer's requirements. This enables fast and flexible 4G and/or 5G connectivity, which can be provided according to specific parameters defined in the service contract, such as coverage, capacity, data speed, latency, availability, reliability. Availability and security are greatly enhanced by the fact that the private mobile network is only available to devices specified by the customer.

Magyar Telekom's private mobile network, available as a commercial service since May last year, and the industrial solution developed for it were first tested under real production conditions at the premises of BorgWarner Oroszlány Kft.
