Your personal identification and contact information typically includes: name, address, place and time of birth, mother's name, your contact information (email address, telephone number), number of identity documents.

Your personal data are used and maintained for the period necessary for the fulfillment of our agreement and as required by the relevant laws. Upon expiry of the required retention period your personal data is deleted.

To do this, we need your personal data, such as your address (city, street, house number, etc.), to perform certain processes. This information help us, for example, to provide the best possible service for your current place of residence from a technical view. If you ever need to contact us, having your personal data helps us assist you more quickly.

In addition, we use pseudonymous and anonymized data for various analyzes, with the help of which we continuously maintain and improve the quality of our services. These analyzes help us to pinpoint certain trends better, for example, showing us where to improve network coverage or which services are preferred by our customers.

If you would like to be listed in the phone book or the inquiry service, we need your explicit approval.

What is a data security risk?

In particular, the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure or unauthorized access to your personal data poses a data security risk.

What measures guarantee data security?

Magyar Telekom constantly improves its data security system so that you always have the data entrusted to us in the most secure place. We also pay attention to the confidentiality, integrity, availability and resilience of the systems and services. We use technologies that facilitate this, in particular the pseudonymization and encryption of personal data and the restoration of access and availability in the event of an incident. The above mentioned technical and organizational measures are tested regularly.

The devices used to provide the service are operated in such a way that your data is only accessible to those authorized to do so (availability); their authenticity and authentication are ensured (authenticity of data controlling); their non-modification must be verifiable (data integrity); and they are protected against unauthorized access (data confidentiality).

How do we control your personal data?

Employees of our Company who have access to your personal data may only process such data in accordance with the relevant contractual provisions and internal policies as required by the applicable legislation.

We only grant access to your data to the extent necessary to perform the work required to provide the service or only to a person whose job and responsibilities include the control / process of the data.

For what purpose do we process your data based on your consent?

We use your directory and inquiry service information for information purposes: based on your consent, your contact data are entered into public databases and you decide on the extent of it.

You have the opportunity that based on your consent and interest you may receive marketing messages. This allows you to be notified on promotions or to help Magyar Telekom or its contractual partners to send you a personal offer.

What happens to your data contained in the telephone directory and the inquiry service?

We use your information in the telephone directory and inquiry service to provide information to those who are interested. You can decide if they can contact you for marketing purposes. In addition to providing your identification data (e.g., name, telephone number, address), you can also decide to tell us more about yourself (your education, professional qualifications, occupation, mobile number or email address). Of course, you can choose not to display any of your data, and you can also change the data that you choose to display at any time.

What do I declare when I authorize to be contacted for marketing purposes?

When you declare that you can be contacted with the use of your contact information, you make four statements:

  • Consent to direct marketing: based on this you can primarily be informed about Magyar Telekom's promotions. These include communication about new services, tariff plans, device discounts, seasonal offers (Christmas, Black Friday, school start offers, etc.).
  • Consent to market research and public opinion research: This means that your feedback on Magyar Telekom’s services, individual products and offers is collected and evaluated. We collect information from you about your user habits.
  • Consent to accept offers from contractual partners (third parties): you will receive information about the discount offers of our partners. These include shopping discounts, entertainment and recreation opportunities and discounts. It is important to emphasize that this does not mean that we transfer your personal data to our partners! In all cases, the messages are sent by Magyar Telekom to the customers.
  • Consent to direct marketing based on profiling: this provides an opportunity for us to give you targeted offers by analyzing your habits through profiling. This may include an offer based on data on your TV viewing habits.

We strive not to contact you too often with our offers and to send you our best and most interesting offers. Your consent can be revoked at any time.

To whom do we transfer your data?

We provide your telephone directory an inquiry service data to the universal directory service provider, other domestic inquiry service providers and the Belgian online inquiry service provider Kapitol Société Anonyme.

Location data is generated when your router is connected to the internet or when your mobile phone is connected to a mobile base station. This information is not the same as under the term “location”, used in everyday life, as from this data your exact location can not be determined.

Why do we need your location data?

We use your location information to establish a connection between our mobile network and your mobile telephone, because without it mobile connections would not be possible.

Many applications (e.g. Waze, Google Maps) collect location data, even on a GPS basis, independently of the Company, based on which they can provide you their services. If you use applications on your phone, please check whether and how the application collects your location data. .

What do we do with your location data?

We process your data as long as you withdraw your consent (i.e. as long as you do not delete the mobile application from your device). However, in the case of certain applications the simple deletion of the app does not cancel your registration, which means that your data are not deleted automatically. Please, make sure that you read and understand the given application’s data protection statement as to how you can delete your registration and data.

What do we do with your location data?

The data generated from phone calls is personal data and, as such, is granted special protection.

Why Magyar Telekom controls call data?

Telekom controls this data for the proper functioning of the services and to enable billing. Call content is not saved; we only save the traffic data ("metadata"), such as which number was connected with which other number and for how long.

What call information do we save?

Telekom saves the duration, time, the caller’s and the called number for all phone calls.

The data are stored for the duration necessary to fulfill our accounting and tax payment obligations.

Why do we use cookies (anonymized visitor IDs)?

Anonymous visitor IDs (cookies) are files or information fragments that are saved on your computer (or other internet-enabled devices, such as your smartphone or tablet) when you visit a website. The cookie generally contains the name of the website from which it is originated, its own “duration” (in other words how long it stays on your device) and its value, which is a random generated unique number.

Cookies are used to optimize websites and to offer you products corresponding to your interests and needs thereby making it easier to use these websites. How do we use internet data?

Your data can be used to calculate when the data traffic limit included in your contract will be exhausted (if applicable). The use of an IP address may be necessary to identify malicious code, such as spam, viruses or worms or to fulfill our data supply obligation to the authorities.

In addition, it enables us to identify and correct disruptions in our network at an early stage. This data in an aggregated form can help us to develop the network where it is needed.

Personal data, as required by law, are recorded in the subscription contract. An e-mail address is sufficient to register for TVGO without a subscription contract.

In addition, when you use our services we save technical and user-specific data.

The technical data include, for example, the set-top-box software version number, your customer number and the media receiver device’s identifier. We also save device-specific data, identified interface connections and device-specific problems (should any occur).
