Sustainable Finance

Sustainability aspects play an increasingly important role in investment decisions, and our company, Magyar Telekom, continuously targets responsible investor evaluations. In addition to traditional financial and risk analyses, social, environmental, and ethical considerations are taken into account during responsible investment, so investors select their investment targets based on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria. Our company's sustainability performance is continuously monitored by MSCI of the New York Stock Exchange, FTSE Russell of London, ISS ESG owned by Deutsche Börse AG, and Sustainalytics analytical organizations, and we consistently perform excellently in these evaluations: in 2023, we maintained our leading position with a maximum AAA rating on the MSCI ESG Ratings scale, and the BÉT recognized our efforts with the Best Company award in the Responsibility, Sustainability, Responsible Corporate Governance category. We also participate in the global Carbon Disclosure Project, where we report annually on our climate protection and supply chain performance.

Supply Chain

Based on international professional standards, we have developed and implemented a sustainable supply chain management process. The goal of this process, defined as a strategic priority, is for Magyar Telekom's commitment to sustainability to become an integral part of our suppliers' operations, and for our company's sustainability principles and elements to be reflected in our suppliers' practices. As part of this process, during supplier sustainability assessments, we examine the extent of their energy consumption and emissions related to Magyar Telekom. In 2023, Magyar Telekom conducted a sustainability web audit, which covered environmental, social, and business ethics issues. The assessment paid particular attention to whether suppliers expect their own partners to adhere to certain sustainability guidelines. The responses received were weighted according to the supplier's industry to determine the final score. In 2023, 69 companies participated directly in the survey, which represents 9.75% of the total procurement value. The sustainability web audit assessment is valid for three years. Decree 13/2024. (VIII.15.) SZTFH regulates sustainability due diligence obligations, and Annex 1 of the decree contains the questions that form the basis of ESG reporting and supply chain due diligence. The focus areas of these questions are environmental protection, society, and corporate governance. The questionnaires are completed using software provided by SZTFH.

Compliance and Ethics

In Hungary, Act CVIII of 2023 (the so-called ESG Act) regulates ESG due diligence and risk management for companies. Under the Act, large companies of public interest must prepare their ESG reports annually starting from 2025, and the Supervisory Authority for Regulated Activities (SZTFH) has also been designated. In these reports, companies must present the sustainability and social impacts of their activities, and how these issues influence their operations and relationship with society. Magyar Telekom is committed to sustainable and ethical operations, and therefore declares zero tolerance for all forms of corruption and bribery. Its comprehensive Corporate Compliance Program and Compliance Management System, certified according to the German IDW AsS 980 standard, ensure the prevention, detection, and handling of corruption cases. The Group expects ethical conduct not only from its own employees but also from its business partners and suppliers. In addition to numerous internal regulations and procedures, the company also operates anonymous whistleblowing channels ("Tell Us!"), where employees and third parties can report their concerns. Anti-corruption training, which is mandatory for all employees, helps maintain and develop an ethical culture with a risk-oriented approach.
