At the start there were four candidates for this post, the earlier Chairman Péter Hónig resigned in favor of the later winner. Elek Straub, who was earlier Co-Chairman of the Federation, won the election with an overwhelming majority. He received 110 votes, while Mrs. József Aranyos received 23 and Attila Ágoston, who was earlier Chairman, 13 votes. Péter Hónig and Attila R. Nagy were elected Co-Chairmen and the mandates of András Sugár and György Wossala were renewed. Ferenc Studniczky who had also been Co-Chairman was one vote short of re-election.
