Today Elek Straub, Chairman Chief Executive Officer of Matáv, and Ákos Detrekoi, rector of the Budapest Technical University signed an agreement on the establishment of a Media Educational and Research Center.

Operating in the frame of the Sociology and Communication Department of BME, the aim of the center's educational and research activities will be to respond to the complex challenges of the new society of the 21st century. The alliance of a respected corporate citizen and a leading educational institute of the information society for the establishment of a joint research center sets an example for the practice of Hungarian companies and universities.

Leading figures of Hungarian media research and education will also be involved in training activities, in the form of on-line distance learning compliant with international standards.
