Running for Children and the Sustainable City at Vivicittá

Budapest, March 23, 2012 10:00

Telekom announces a charity event with the participation of its own employees to the benefit of the SOS Children’s Village, on the occasion of the 27th Telekom Vivicittá Városvédő Futás of which it is the chief sponsor.

Telekom will be collecting donations for children growing up at the SOS Children’s Village during the Vivicittá event to be organised on April 1, with which it intends to help achieve that they can have a more problem-free childhood similar to their peers being raised in families. Telekom is recruiting teams of its employees and the number of kilometres run by each team will be multiplied by HUF 100. The amount thus raised will be donated in supporting the small and more grown up children who live in the SOS Children’s Village.

In addition to this Telekom will enable the inhabitants of the SOS Children’s Village also to take part in the Budapest experience, although they would hardly be able to do that on their own due to the distance of the villages from Budapest or their social status. For this reason Telekom will finance the travel to Budapest from the institutions of the SOS Children’s Village Foundation at Battonya, Kőszeg and Kecskemét of children and their foster parents and will take care of their whole day participation in the event. BSI Sports marketing, the event’s organiser, will in turn take care of their nomination free of charge.

Telekom’s representatives will hand over the grand voucher representing the collected kilometres to the children at the end of the competition, when the achievements will be announced. The event will also be attended by the Ambassador of the SOS Children’s Village, Éva Barabás.

The charity event will be enriched by the participation of the Sustainability Media Club, the team of which would like to draw attention with their participation to the sustainability of living in cities. Telekom has brought into being the Sustainability Media Club by inviting major Hungarian media in order to popularize sustainability. In the framework of this gap-filling initiative members of the club demonstrate to the general public through their own communication tools and channels, with the help of practical examples how we can live sustainability in our everyday life and what we all can do for a liveable future.

With its hello holnap! initiative launched back in December 2010 Telekom wishes to turn the concept of sustainability into a part and parcel of our everyday life and at the same time draw the attention that the liveable future is a common responsibility for all of us.
