Telekom publishes the highest compliance level Sustainability report again

Budapest, August 16, 2013 20:00

Magyar Telekom published its sixth Sustainability report, which was compiled according to the highest compliance level of GRI. The „A+“ classification indicates that the report was made using the internationally accepted guidelines of Global Reporting Initiative and was authenticated by an external party, hence the report completely meets the transparency and comparability requirements.

This year Magyar Telekom published its Sustainability report for the ninth time, outlining the 2012 sustainability performance of the group. 2012 was the second year of Magyar Telekom’s third sustainability strategy, covering the period until 2015. Among others, the outstanding achievement of the year is that the group decreased its CO2 output by 8.8% versus last year (compared to 2004 the CO2 output decreased altogether by 22%) and that 14.7% of the revenue was generated by sales of sustainability oriented products and services.

The sustainability related awareness of the company‘s employees significantly exceeds the Hungarian average – while in 2012 15% of people interviewed in the frame of a residential survey could define the essence of sustainable development, 75% of our associates knew the exact definition. In 2012 the research and development activity was related to environmentally themed innovations in 19% and in the frame of programmes organised for associates almost 600 colleagues participated in voluntary work, offering voluntary contribution to our society with the principal value of HUF 21.7 million.

For the fifth time this year, the Sustainability Day in September targeted everybody, with the fundamental objective of social education, introducing new ideas and solutions promoting sustainable development and providing assistance in establishing a conscious lifestyle.
As a company spearheading the promotion of sustainability principles, continuing our traditions we rewarded our responsibly acting suppliers with the DOLPHIN Award, and in cooperation with the Sustainability Media Club we awarded the hello holnap!   (hello tomorrow!) media award to journalists excelling in the theme of sustainability.

In 2012 Magyar Telekom received numerous awards again. The company won the Green Frog award founded by Deloitte, acknowledging the best Central-European sustainability report, the Best Employer title in the large company category ranked second, the CSR Hungary Award for the charity cake event named Adni jó!  (Giving Makes You Feel Good), the Excellence in Customer Service award, as well as the company was entered in the international sustainability stock exchange index (CEERIUS) of the Vienna Stock Exchange for the fourth time. For more information and the Sustainability report please visit:
