Budapest, September 5, 2014 15:00

This year too Telekom has recognised innovative solutions and exemplary performance pointing towards sustainability. The bin-festival, the innovative tapping of geothermal energy, the community bicycle system and the „rescued” child with Down syndrome; the DOLPHIN prizes this year were handed over in the 15th Sustainability Round Table Discussion.

Telekom has been organizing sustainability round table discussions for its interested parties since 1997 with the participation of the representatives of the governmental, scientific and non-governmental spheres. The exchange of ideas is aimed at promoting dialogue, shared thinking, and cooperation towards building a sustainable future and at exploring the requirements set for Telekom.

„It is fifteen years already that we meet in this circle to share all that we know and show example to as well as learn from each other. Our experience is that, although it is not this forum where great things tend to happen, but dialogue does inspire all of us and it is this practically that is the aim of the event”—said in her welcome address Éva Somorjai, chief HR officer.

In the framework of the Sustainability Round Table Discussion the DOLPHIN Prizes were handed over again (Prize for a Committed, Sustainable and Innovative Generation). Any business operating in Hungary had the opportunity to apply for the Prize, which eventually went for awareness building and education in the „New Street” bin festival of Sopron to Sopron and its Environment Environmental Protection and Waste Management Kft., for the innovation realized in the heating technology system representing energy efficiency and less environmental load to one of Telekom’s suppliers, Vasi FULL-TÁV Kft. in recognition by the jury of their outstanding endeavours.

Péter Lakatos, Telekom’s chief officer for SMB services reported that 85% of Hungarian businesses do not use the possibility of online purchases and sales, although these solutions may significantly improve their efficiency while also reduce environmental load. Telekom, as a key business partner of Hungarian SMBs orders products and services from over 3000 Hungarian small and medium sized vendors, therefore it considers the IT development and education of the SMB sector is its key mission.

In the event the recognition in the Innovation category went to Csepel Zrt, for the “Telebike” corporate bicycle system; in the equal opportunity category it went to the Hill and Knowlton PR agency for their continued campaign activity supporting children with the Down syndrome.
