New top executive at the head of MATÁVnet Ltd.
Budapest, July 21, 2000
From September 1st, 2000 a newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, László Drajkó, will manage MATÁVnet Ltd., Hungary's market-leading Internet Service Provider. Since the departure of the managing director in March, management functions at the firm have been carried out by György Simó, deputy CEO, who will continue his work from September onwards in his original position.
László Drajkó (32), after finishing his studies at the Technical
University of Budapest and the Technical University of Delft (the
Netherlands), has worked as managing director of Novell Hungary and
later at Compaq Computer Hungary. Later on, he managed a market
development team as general manager at Compaq's German firm covering 14
Eastern European countries.
"Regarding Matáv's objectives in 2000, IP technology will continue to
enjoy priority. This is why I consider it very important that a young
and dynamic management team with significant domestic and international
experience should direct the ISP subsidiary of our Company - stated
Elek Straub, Matáv's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in relation
to the appointment.
MATÁVnet is the market leading domestic ISP. MATÁVnet operates the
[origo] portal which is visited by more than 100 thousand users a day,
the [origo] Freemail free e-mail system with more than 350 thousand
registered users, the Vizsla browser and many other popular online
services.
